Rocky road cake topping

This is a really easy way to make any cake look good ridiculously indulgent and over the top. It comes from this recipe for caramel rocky road cake , which looks amazing, but who has time to bake four cakes?! I wanted an impressive looking cake for my friend Emily’s birthday last week, so I took the rocky road cake topping from the link above and added it to a mud cake.

All I did was arrange mini flake bars, mars bars and marshmallows on the cake before drizzling (store bought) salted caramel sauce all over the chocolate mountain. I made it on Thursday night, covered it and when I lifted the cover off on Friday morning the smell of caramel literally smacked me in the face. It was aaaaaamazing.

I love how the caramel has oozed out of the mars bars.

I think this topping would look even better on a white frosted vanilla cake. Next time!

Why are you not doing the great Australian bake off or some amazing cooking show? You’re incredible!

Thanks! But I think they would make me make my own flakes, Mars bars and marshmallows and… Ain’t nobody got time for that! Plus they never seem to use recipes?! I totally need them.
