Moving House

Last weekend my housemate Bec and I spent three days (took a ‘moving day’ on Friday and had the day off work, god bless the public service!) moving 1.5km down the road to our new house. Luckily we had a small tribe of burly men help with the heavy lifting.

So burly.

Obviously there were plenty of Ross (from Friends) “PIVVVOOOOOTT!” jokes. Mostly from me.

After two truck loads we shouted the boys a big breakfast using the funds we made from selling our old fridge. I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.

Then we headed home to face this:

Ughhhhh

On Sunday we unpacked the kitchen. Unwrapping our newspaper clad items was like one long, boring game of pass the parcel. ‘Wine glass! Wine glass! Wine glass. Wine glass… Another wine glass… Wine glass. Why do we have so many wine glasses?!’ – my internal dialogue.

But it looked pretty cute when we were all done:

My birthday flowers, still going strong.

I only just finished clearing random stuff of my bedroom floor last night, so now I can see the glorious, freezing floorboards!

I bought some $7 slipper boots at Target yesterday to keep my feet warm. I also bought this cute mirror:

More birthday flowers going strong

I think I’ve mentioned the house is decked out with some pretty fancy light fittings, this is the one above my bed:

chandelier

Surely a lampshade around a chandelier makes the pretty dangly things redundant?!

This is the view from my room into the hallway. I had a lot of fun arranging that bookshelf.

This time we’ve aimed for more actual books, less ornaments (believe it or not)

And this is a photo I took out the front as I was getting into my car this morning for work and the sun was shining, the birds were chirping and trees were swaying gently in the breeze:

That picket fence.

So happy with our new place!

Your new place looks awesome! It must be fun to live with a girl and actually have a relatively clean place most of the time. šŸ˜› Loved the Ross pivot mention as well – huge ‘Friends’ fan over here! šŸ™‚

    xx

    • Bec says:

Thanks Felicity! I’ve lived with Bec for about a year and a half now (and we work together too!) so parting ways would be like a horrible break up haha. We’re generally pretty tidy but our clothes can get out of control at times… I think we’re trying to keep things pretty because it’s all new and exciting! Have a great weekend šŸ™‚ xx

Oh I just love that you threw in a quote from ‘Friends’. There just aren’t enough of them around these days!
The house looks great. Moving is such a pain though. Enjoy settling in x

Looks gorgeous!! And I’m glad that next time we decide to dance around pretending to be in the chandelier video clip we can do it around an ACTUAL chandelier as opposed to the Egan Street patio light.

Ps. You guys are so lucky it’s starting to warm up, those wooden floorboards are a massive bitch on cold mornings!!

    • Bec says:

Omg yes! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Yes I’m glad the worst of winter is over, floorboards are like the stilettos of the floor coverings world: pretty but painful.

    • Bec says:

But, I should add, the floorboards are excellent for impersonating Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Bec the house looks lovely and decorated very tastefully. Can I offer you a suggestion about the floor boards. Get a couple of rugs and throw them down. You can shift them around and when summer comes ad the weather warms up you can roll them up and put them in the cupboard.

  5. We just finished moving house too and you made me LOL with the “Pivot” Joke! I was the only one shouting it and finding it absolutely hilarious every single time!! The white picket fence is adorable! Hope your happy in the new place!xxx
