I hate that I love New York City so much. How tiresome. And clichéd. But I can’t help it, I can hardly explain why it appeals so greatly to me. I really haven’t felt so at home anywhere else in the world. Perhaps thanks to pop culture we’ve all seen so much of the Big Apple that it just feels… familiar.
I’ve only been twice, once for two weeks during a heat wave the second time by myself in the dead of winter. Both were excellent, obviously. Whenever I see someone’s photos from a recent trip I feel green with envy and nausea. It’s a deep belly ache that won’t go away.
So while I have no plans to return to my spiritual home in the near future, I do plan to live there one day, if only for a year. I’ll wait on tables, work at Macdonald’s, live in a dive. Anything. In the meantime I’ve made a board on Pinterest called The best city in the world . Do you have Pinterest? Let me know
What is your favourite city in the world? Have you been to NYC?
I love NYC too and have been there a few times (and have good friends there) and although I know I could live there, my one true soul-home is Tokyo. I have never been a place so different, yet so comfortable and I aim to live there for a bit of my life someday (with husband and daughter in tow!)
Have a great weekend, Luna. 🙂
I would love to go to Tokyo (I spent one night there when I was about 5 which doesn’t count!). I suppose your Tokyo is my NYC! I read a blog recently about an Australian woman who was living there with her husband and children, it was really cool… If only I could remember what it was called?! Thanks, you have to great weekend too
Gosh, you sound exactly like me! I spent about four months living in New York a few years ago and have thought about it every day since. Thankfully I was able to go back for about two weeks earlier this year and I am already planning to go again next year. I’d love to go back and live there for a longer period one day too. People always ask why I keep going back…it’s very hard to explain!
I’m glad I’m not alone Hannah! It’s just… the best. Ever. Can’t explain why. Definitely just going to pack a bag and turn up there one day. I might see you there!
